Regular automatic cover maintenance is essential for keeping your system running smoothly and extending its lifespan. A well-maintained cover operates more efficiently, is more reliable, and helps protect your pool investment.
Over time, dirt and debris can build up in the tracks or inside the cover housing. This buildup can cause the cover to open and close unevenly, putting extra stress on ropes, sliders, pulleys, and other moving parts. Keeping these components clean and properly maintained helps prevent wear and costly repairs.
Most systems need key components inspected, and sometimes replaced, about every two years. Catching worn parts early helps avoid breakdowns and unexpected issues.
Automatic cover maintenance should be performed once per year, typically in the spring when the pool is opened.

Auto Cover Services
New Wave Pools offers a full range of automatic pool cover services. When maintenance is completed during your residential pool opening, it is billed on a time-and-materials basis. You may also choose to add optional fabric treatment, which is billed the same way.
If automatic cover service is scheduled at any other time, the rate is slightly higher to account for the service call fee. Any replacement parts that are needed are billed separately and are not included in the service rate.

Auto Cover Maintenance
- Remove autocover lid
- Detach fabric from drum
Inspect ropes, guides, sliders, and pulleys - Lubricate any necessary components
- Adjust torque limiter
- Adjust ropes for even operation of cover
- Tighten all loose bolts and screws
- Reattach fabric to drum and install the lid
Auto Cover Fabric Treatment
- Remove dirt and debris from auto cover fabric
- Clean the auto cover fabric using a cover cleaning product
- Rinse the auto cover fabric
- Apply UV Protectant product
